The design brief for the Surrey Downs Clubhouse was to create a quality leisure environment for the whole family. Adderley Barker considered each area of the building with equal importance and has combined them to provide a unique facility.

The concept behind the overall design was to bring the outside in. The layout, materials, colours and finishes all reflect this idea. From the colour palette found in the heart of a flint stone to the names of the local planting reflected in the window manifestation, every detail has been considered to create a series of contemporary spaces with rich natural finishes.

On entering Surrey Downs for the first time visitors can orientate themselves immediately as there is a courtyard feel to the entrance lobby with clear vistas of the bar, restaurant, shop and the golf course itself.

Main clubhouse areas

• Bar and Restaurant areas contain a mixture of natural timbers, with oak and walnut furniture that has been specifically designed and manufactured for Surrey Downs.
• Changing facilities are of the highest quality with a series of ceramic and mosaic tiles next to oak and walnut joinery throughout the vanity areas, toilets and showers and saunas.
• Function space - the Willow Suite acts as a large function space for both business and pleasure.
• The business suite has been designed to accommodate anything from an impromptu meeting to a full-scale business event and again all areas offer uninterrupted views over the course and surrounding area.
• The reception and shop are combined to provide a personal welcome to all visitors.
• Adderley Barker have endeavoured to show the care and attention in the design of the interior that reflects the atmosphere of this most modern and friendly club.
